Oily skin may cause acne and make it difficult to wear makeup for a long time. Oily skin may also be an embarrassing condition that people may discuss, and can be difficult to treat without harsh chemicals that disrupt the delicate layers of the skin. But mother nature has given us so many natural ingredients that we can easily found in our kitchen which we can be used to treat our oily skin and these ingredients not only soothe and heal it, and also regulate its oil production. The oil secreted from all of these glands helps to keep the skin soft, thus minimizing signs of aging and protecting your skin against certain skin conditions. But problems arise when these sebaceous glands become hyperactive and produce more oil. Excess oil secretion could be due to many reasons including through genes, hormonal imbalance, poor hygiene, infection, etc. However, there are several natural home remedies available to manage oily skin problems. These are as follows:

Natural Home Remedies for Oily Skin


1. Sodium bicarbonate

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) helps to balance the PH levels of skin , therefore it can have a positive effect on oily skin. Additionally, it exfoliates the skin and removes the dead skin cells and thus make the skin look more younger. Just mix 2 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate with 1 tablespoon water and massage it into your skin. Leave it on for five minutes , then rinse it off with  warm water. Apply this 2-3 days a week to treat oily skin problems.

2. Cucumber

 
Cucumbers are rich in minerals and vitamins including vitamin A & E, magnesium, and potassium. Additionally, it has a soothing effect on skin and it is very effective for oily skin. The simplest way to use cucumbers on our oily skin is to slice a fresh organic cucumber and then rub the slices in your face thoroughly. Leave it on overnight and rinse it off with tap water in the morning. You can do this treatment daily like a night time toner to get rid off oily skin problem.

3. Apple cider vinegar treatment

Apple cider vinegar is not only good for treating acne because of it's antibacterial properties, however it can also help combat oily skin. You may either apply it topically or take it internally. Topically it will help remove excess oil and cleanse pores. When taken internally, ACV helps you to balance hormones, which can help reduce excess oil production in skin.


4. Lemons

Lemons contain citric acid which acts as an astringent to soak up excess oil. To make use of lemons for oily skin take a lemon and slice it in 2. Squeeze half of the fresh lemon juice into a small bowl or cup and add a tablespoon of water in it. By using a cotton ball apply this as a toner all around the face. Leave it on overnight and rinse it off the following morning. Use lemon juice to tone your skin after washing the face. Its not just a great astringent, but the ascorbic acid in the lemon juice fights toxins and regulates the oil production evidently.

5. Facial Steam

Taking facial steam twice a week can regulate the oil production within the skin. Simply fill a bowl with boiling water and then lean over the bowl covering your head with a towel so that the steam will directly reach your face. Take steam for about 10 minutes. Splash your face with cool water when you're finished steaming.

6. Eat Flax seed Oil

Eating flax seed oil will nourish and moisturize the organs and digestive tract of the body. It is rich in Omega essential fatty acids. Flax seed oil regulates the oil production within the skin when taken internally--1 tbsp daily.

7. Exercise

Exercising enables you to sweat, which clears the skin's pores. Exercising daily will reduce the amount of oil secreted evidently.

8. Yogurt

Yogurt is lower in fat and its astringent qualities make it act as a mild exfoliator and cleansing agent on the skin. Apply fresh and cold yogurt on the face and leave it until it become dry. Wash it off with cold water. This is a great way to keep oily skin free of dirt and grime and also to control the oiliness of your skin. Yogurt can also be mixed with fuller's earth and its very effective for those who have very oily face.

9. Fuller's earth

Fuller's earth traps grime and dirt and this is an excellent way to treat oily skin and stop blocking the pores. Take 2 tbsp of fuller's earth powder and make a mask by adding little amount of water with it. Now apply the mask on your face and wait for 10 to 15 minutes to dry. Then wash it off with normal water. Fuller's earth also helps in toning the face area and leaving it clear and fresh.


10. Raw papaya

A pulp made from raw papaya is very good for removing excess oil and dirt from the skin and making your skin wonderfully clean and free from oiliness. Papaya softens old skin debris on the face and this helps in easy elimination of dirt and grime.

11. Aloe Vera

Fresh aloe vera gel moisturizes the skin and also absorb excess oil from your face and make your skin soft, smooth and supple. It prevents any possibility of oiliness and also reduces instances of acne, pimples along with other skin infections and eruptions which are very common with oily skin.
